It’s always a struggle to find budget-friendly family hotels in Singapore. We have visited this cultural city four times now and like staying close to Orchard Road. Therefore, this is my well-researched list of the Top 4 best value Orchard Road family hotels.
Singapore is renowned for being an expensive city, but it is also one of the world’s best family destinations and worth a visit.

Our Top 4 Best Value Orchard Road Family Hotels
Although we like visiting Sentosa, it’s not the right place for us to stay. Our family likes being in the city, close to the MRT, and having a big choice of restaurants and budget food options on our doorstep. The shopping mecca of Orchard Road ticks all of these boxes and is only about half an hour from the airport.
Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre
Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre is our number one choice of Orchard Road family hotels. We have stayed here every time we have travelled to Singapore. It’s located in Cavenagh Road, just off Orchard Road. The closest MRT is Somerset, which is a 5-minute walk.
The rooms are big enough for a young family, which means it works out to be budget-friendly. The rooms feature large Queen beds and are the usual Holiday Inn standard and have the same amenities. However, a nice touch is the unlimited Wi-Fi and calls to 10 international countries. We find the room big enough for the four of us (our girls were nearly 10 when we last went).
With the kids stay free policy, children 12 and under stay free in your room. Plus, up to four kids ages 12 and under eat free in any Holiday Inn on-site restaurant. The service at this hotel is first class, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Despite being on a hectic road, the rooms are quiet, although there’s not much to see from the window.

We stayed in an Executive room on our last two visits, which gave us access to the Executive Club Lounge. It was great value for us as it wasn’t that much dearer than the standard room, and we all got breakfast, afternoon tea, and drinks and hors d’oevres from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The lounge is open all day, so you can pop in and grab a drink before or after your day of sightseeing. We usually had breakfast in the main restaurant as there was more choice for children but had afternoon tea in the club lounge most days. The food in the evening was so substantial that we only required a light dinner each night, we hardly spent anything on food. The drinks are free-flowing, and the children can have juice or soft drink.
Note that children under 12 are not allowed in the lounge during the cocktail hours but are welcomed in the Lobby Lounge with the same benefits. We found the Lobby Lounge to be quieter and enjoyed having our drinks and nibbles there before heading out for the evening.
The rooftop pool is nice despite it not having any views. There have always been plenty of sun loungers, and the girls have enjoyed swimming in the pool. When they were younger, it was handy having the children’s pool next to the main pool. There is also a Jacuzzi and gym on-site.

The cost is around A$250 for a standard room, and A$315 for a Club Room, but prices depend on dates.
Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre can be booked through Booking.com for competitive prices. We use them all the time to book our accommodation. Alternatively, click on the photo below to check the price with Agoda. Both of these companies have price matching and offer great cancellation policies.
Despite not having stayed at the rest of these hotels, I had researched them thoroughly both when we booked and in November 2020.
Jen Singapore Orchard Gateway by Shangri-La
Jen Singapore Orchard Gateway by Shangri-La has nearly 3000 reviews on TripAdvisor with a 4.5 rating and 3800 on Booking.Com with a rating of 9. Those are pretty impressive stats.
This hotel is located right in the middle of Orchard Road and has a fantastic infinity-edged pool with panoramic city views. The modern glass building features contemporary furnishings, and rooms have a seating area, flat-screen TV, and coffee/tea making facilities. A fitness centre is on-site, and the buffet restaurant offers a mixture of local Singaporean cuisines and popular Western dishes.
We didn’t stay here as the Family Room has a large double bed and double sofa bed, which we felt would be too small for our older children. It would be ok for smaller kids, though, or one child.
Check the beautiful photos out here.
Yotel Singapore Orchard
Yotel Singapore Orchard is also very highly rated with nearly 7,500 reviews on Booking.com and over 3,000 on TripAdvisor. Located just across the road from the Orchard MRT makes getting around Singapore easy.
This ultra-modern hotel has a different room concept where the design is based on first-class travel, where space is at a premium. The rooms are called cabins and come with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The best room for a family of three is the Premium Queen Cabin with Bunk. The room has a queen-size adjustable bed and a single overhead bunk. Unfortunately, it is too small for our family but I thought it looks pretty cool.
The hotel has a lap pool, fitness centre, and an in-house restaurant and bar.
Royal Plaza on Scotts
If your children are 11 or under, Royal Plaza on Scotts has Deluxe Plus Rooms that feature twin beds. The beds are each 135cm × 203cm in size. The modern rooms feature a private bathroom with a rain shower, a flat-screen TV, and tea/coffee making facilities.
Situated opposite the Grand Hyatt, this family hotel is a 3-minute walk from Orchard MRT Station. It has an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness centre, but I love the staircase!
