Coral Bay is a tiny coastal town on the Coral Coast. With its stunning white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, it’s a popular destination for snorkelling, diving, and exploring marine life.

Ningaloo Reef, which is accessible from the beach, gives you amazing opportunities to see colourful coral formations and various marine animals, including whale sharks and manta rays.

The town only has one main street with a bar/restaurant, cafes, supermarket, dive shop, bakery, backpackers, caravan parks and a few shops.

Coral Bay is a laid-back coastal town at its best and one of our favourite snorkelling spots in Western Australia.

2. Busselton

Busselton is known for its iconic Busselton Jetty, which stretches out into the clear waters of Geographe Bay.

The jetty is one of the longest timber-piled jetties in the Southern Hemisphere, which you can walk along, take a train, fish, or visit the underwater observatory.

The town has beautiful beaches, popular for swimming and water sports as the water is often calm.

If you prefer a larger beach town, Busselton has lots of shops, restaurants, and bars throughout its streets.

Busselton is also a gateway to the Margaret River wine region, where you will find wineries, gourmet food, and stunning scenery.

3. Broome

In the Kimberley, Broome combines natural beauty with rich cultural heritage.

The beaches are stunning, with turquoise waters and pristine white sand beaches. Visit the famous Cable Beach, where camel rides and sunsets are a daily spectacle.

The town’s history is deeply intertwined with the pearling industry, evident in its diverse population and architecture, reflecting a blend of Indigenous, Asian, and European influences.

Explore the local markets, discover the intriguing history of pearl diving at the Pearl Luggers Museum, and experience the laid-back yet adventurous atmosphere that defines Broome.

With its unique landscapes, warm climate, and relaxed atmosphere, Broome is one of the best beach towns on Australia’s west coast. You can also use it as a base to explore the surrounding Kimberley area.

Exmouth on the Coral Coast is a paradise for snorkellers and divers, with close access to the incredible UNESCO-listed Ningaloo Reef.

It’s said that Ningaloo Reef is better than the Great Barrier Reef due to the pristine turquoise waters and diverse marine life, including whale sharks and humpback whales.

Beyond the ocean, the rugged landscapes of Cape Range National Park are excellent for exploration, hiking, and wildlife spotting.

Exmouth’s laid-back charm, coupled with its natural beauty, entices travellers from around the world.

Denmark is a charming town in Australia’s South West that blends nature and creativity. Art galleries and craft shops line the streets and the beautiful Denmark River runs through the town.

However, the nearby national parks and stunning beaches are Demark’s best feature. From the dramatic landscapes of Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool to the calm water of the Wilson Inlet, it has plenty of spots for outdoor exploration.

Denmark is perfect for travellers who enjoy outdoor activities, like hiking, fishing, and exploring national parks.

The relaxed atmosphere and local wineries also add to its charm.

Located at the meeting point of the Murchison River and the Indian Ocean, Kalbarri is a coastal town on Western Australia’s Coral Coast with a rugged beauty and a spectacular blend of landscapes.

The town has striking red cliffs contrasting dramatically with the blue waters below.

Kalbarri National Park is a highlight, where deep river gorges, wildflower displays, and ancient rock formations like Nature’s Window leave a lasting impression. Adventurers can enjoy activities like hiking, abseiling, and canoeing.

The Murchison River is great for river cruises, while coastal trails and lookouts showcase the untamed magnificence of the Indian Ocean.

I always stop in Kalbarri when travelling from Perth to Exmouth.

This small coastal town captivates visitors with its towering tingle trees, some dating back thousands of years, and its pristine beaches.

Visit the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk for a different perspective of these giants and to walk through the Ancient Forest.

The waterways are great for kayaking, and some excellent hikes are nearby.

Bremer Bay is a town on the rugged coastline of Western Australia’s southern region.

This remote spot has some of the best beaches in Western Australia, with bright white sand and turquoise waters.

The seasonal visit of orcas from January to April, often referred to as the “Bremer Bay killer whales,” is a highlight, with the rare opportunity to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
