Self Contained Accommodation in Albany
Albany has a wide range of self-contained accommodation with varying prices. I use a combination of Airbnb, Stayz, and Booking.com, depending on which one has the lowest price, and I’ve never had an issue with any of these booking platforms. If the prices are similar, I go with Booking.com as they offer a genius discount and free cancellation on most of their properties listed.
All properties have air conditioning as that’s always a requirement of mine.
Fourteen on Peels, Albany
Fourteen on Peels is a beautifully renovated apartment in a building over 100 years old. The spacious property is located within the city, and you can walk to shops, cafes, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The apartment has the whole top floor of the building, so there are no residential neighbours or shared spaces.
Fourteen on Peels is luxuriously furnished with magnificent views of Princess Royal Harbour. This apartment is located in a commercial district, so only a single car parking space is available outside, and access is via the rear of the building. Parking is easy to get in and out of on weekends, but on weekdays there are usually more cars in the neighbours’ parking bays; however, access is still available.
It has two bedrooms, one with a king bed, and the other with a queen, both very comfortable. There’s one bathroom with a shower, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, and dishwasher.
Fourteen on Peels is the perfect accommodation in Albany if you want to stay in town.
Oakview Cottage, Albany
Oakview Cottage is a cosy, beautiful cottage 50 metres from the main restaurant strip with lovely harbour views. The undercover patio at the rear of the cottage is the perfect spot to have a BBQ.
The two bedrooms feature a King and a Single in one room and a Queen in the other. The bathroom has a shower, and the kitchen includes a stove and oven but no dishwasher. The house is super clean, and Jenny adds some lovely welcoming touches to this home. The complimentary breakfast provided consists of bread, butter, cereal, jams, coffee, tea, and milk.
This is a good option for a well priced cosy cottage close in the centre of Albany.
Cliff St Cottage
Cliff St Cottage is a stunning 105-year-old character home located near Mt Melville with stunning harbour views.
It has three bedrooms (2 Queens and 1 Double) and one bathroom with a bath and shower. The fully equipped kitchen features an oven, hob, dishwasher, and a well-stocked pantry and spice draw.
This beautifully restored weatherboard coastal cottage has panoramic views from the living areas, and you can watch ships in the port from the glass-enclosed sunroom. On those cold nights, get warm and cosy, next to one of the wood fireplaces, with a glass of wine or a cup of hot chocolate.
The breakfast bar has art supplies and colouring books with an outdoor activities basket located in the laundry, and the alfresco with wall chalkboard will keep the kids entertained. Tanya adds lots of thoughtful touches and treats for a wonderful stay.
It is highly recommended for family accommodation in Albany.
Spencer Suites Albany
Spencer Suites Albany offer self-catering suites with a kitchenette or fully equipped kitchen. It is located in the heart of Albany, just minutes’ walk of shops, cafes, and restaurants. The suites also offer a comfortable dining setting if you want to eat in and is highly rated for their comfortable beds.
Stablebase
Stablebase is in between Albany town and Torndirrup, which is about a ten-minute drive into the centre of Albany. It consists of a self-contained wing of the owner’s house and is accessed through the main entry hall, shared with the main house, or via glass doors directly from the guest parking area.
The house has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two king singles. Both bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms, one of which is fully disabled compliant. The kitchen is equipped with an oven and microwave but no dishwasher or oven.
Statblebase sits on a 6-acre block with Dogs Conner & Max, Horses Flame & Zaf, and free-range chickens.
Well-behaved dogs are allowed with prior arrangement.

Beach House at Bayside
Beach House at Bayside is located midway between Middleton Beach and Emu Point on Middleton Bay, 6km from Albany town centre.
All rooms have an LCD TV with a DVD player, and the private bathrooms includes heated towel rails, bathrobes, and luxury toiletries.
Continental and cooked breakfasts are served in the guest lounge and dining area and picnic baskets can be arranged on request.
You can relax in the beautiful outdoor courtyard or go for a ride on one of the free bicycles provided.
Beach House on Bayside is the most luxurious property in Albany.

Albany Harbourside Apartments & Houses offer self-contained accommodation for those who want a comfortable place to stay. This accommodation features a well-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, making it perfect for families to stay while in Albany. The apartments come with a variety of features, such as electric blankets, free WiFi, and a barbecue area.
Ten apartments and houses are close to the harbour and main street, while two Beachside apartments are located near Middleton Beach.

Budget Accommodation in Albany
Emu Point Motel and Apartments
Emu Point Motel is located a 5-minute walk from Emu Beach and a 10-minute drive from Albany town centre. It offers self-contained accommodation with small kitchens and has a garden and a communal kitchen with BBQ facilities.
There are room options that sleep up to five, and all rooms have a private bathroom.
Emu Point Motel is a good budget option for couples as the double rooms cost about A$125 per night.
Country Comfort Amity Motel Albany
We stayed in a family room at the Country Comfort Amity Motel on our last visit to Albany. The family room consisted of two inter-connecting rooms, each with a queen size bed, single bed, and bathroom. This set up gave our family space and we’re weren’t all trying to use the one bathroom. This accommodation has a variety of rooms to suit the budget-conscious travellers.
All rooms have air-conditioning (ours worked exceptionally well), a small fridge, coffee and tea making facilities with a microwave, toaster and kettle. Free wi-fi and parking is included in the price.
Country Comfort Amity Motel has an outdoor pool, gym, an on-site bar and restaurant, games room with pool table and open fireplace, and a communal BBQ with pizza oven. For those with electric cars, an on-site Tesla charging point is free for in-house guests. They can also arrange free airport / bus terminal pick ups and drop offs.
Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful, and courteous and the on-site Indian restaurant provided delicious food. We were very happy with our stay here.

Big 4 Middleton Beach
We stayed in cabins at the Big 4 Middleton Beach a couple of times when our daughters were younger as the facilities are excellent for families with young children.
All accommodation features a fully equipped kitchen and a patio or balcony, and the property has a solar-heated swimming pool and hot tub. It has a prime position alongside Middleton Beach.
Accommodation options include villas, bungalows, and chalets with a dining setting, outdoor furniture, and a lounge area with a sofa, a flat-screen TV, and a DVD player.
You can play billiards or table tennis in the games room, and there’s a kids’ club and a small purpose-built theatre that shows movies.
If you don’t feel like cooking, there are restaurants close by.
Big 4 Middleton Beach is well maintained, and the cabins are cleaned to a high standard.
Big 4 Emu Point
Big 4 Emu Point is situated just 30m from the ocean and offers self-contained accommodation with a patio. Children will enjoy the jumping pillow and a games room.
This holiday park is a 12 minutes drive from Bayonet Head and 30 minutes drive from Albany Airport.
At BIG4 Emu Beach Holiday Park, you will find a shared kitchen, a communal lounge area, and a kids’ club. There’s also a range of activities that you can enjoy on-site or close by, including golfing and mini-golf.
All accommodation offers an outdoor dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge area with a flat-screen TV.
Big 4 Emu Point is surrounded by native Peppermint trees and just metres from the beach, and a lovely spot to relax in a natural setting. Facilities include a playground, BBQ areas, jumping pillow, mini-golf, and Emu Beach is a short walk away.
Hotels in Albany
The only two hotels in Albany are the Ibis Styles and Best Western, but I haven’t stayed in either of them.
Things to do in Albany
There are plenty of things to do in Albany, a popular destination for Western Australians during school holidays and long weekends. This port town is full of history, delicious food, stunning beaches, incredible hikes, amazing natural formations, fishing spots, wildlife cruises, and much more.
